January 3 '09 -  Happy New Year everyone!  Well the holidays have come and gone and it's time to get back
to work!

I received an email from a daughter of a woman who bought a puppy from me last year.  The pup is a sister to
Liberty.  There was devastatingly bad news.  Her Mother & Father had been in a terrible car accident.  Her
Father was in critical condition, her Mother had passed away.  What a horrible thing to have happen.  My
heart and prayers go out to her and all of her family.  I understand the pain as I have lost both of my parents.
I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Her daughter informed me that her Mom's dog, Willow, was now in her care.  Willow was Sharron's constant
companion and went everywhere with her.  She was with her on that fateful day.  Willow was by Sharron's
side until the end.  Frightened and with no one there to help her, Willow disappeared into the wilderness.
She was on her own for three weeks until they were finally able to find her.  Alone, confused and hungry.

Sharron's daughter is very troubled as she is unable to keep Willow.  She knows that her life at this point, is
not suited to having an energetic dog like Willow.  A full time job with lots of overtime, a residence without a
yard is not a place for a 1 year old working line German Shepherd.   Sharron's daughter has done a very
difficult thing and given Willow a chance at the life she deserves.  Willow will be returning to me.  It has
been arranged I will pick her up at the Calgary airport the second weekend in February.  What a difficult and
brave thing to do.  Sharron would be pleased.
January 6 '09 - I've added a new page to my website.  I would like to generate more income to help Humane
Society International Canada to care for puppy mill puppies.  I see these dogs on a day to day basis and see
not only a weak, unhealthy dog, but also see the heartache it causes so many unsuspecting people.  I have
had many dogs start out a 4 week Puppy Kindergarten course, never make it to graduation.  A lot of the
time, owners are put in a very difficult situation.  Pay thousands to help the dog, or euthanize.  Nobody
should have to make that kind of a decision for a puppy.  It breaks my heart, month after month, to hear the
stories.  I want to stand in front of PetLand with a placard that states "These dogs come from puppy mills!"
But it wouldn't do much good.  People would go inside, ask the "Pet Specialists" (what a joke!) if it was true
and they would say adamantly "Our dogs come only from ethical breeders!"  And maybe those "Pet EVERY
SINGLE DOG SOLD IN A PET STORE IS FROM A PUPPY MILL!  And what really fries my @ss is that people
will BUY them for ridiculous amounts of money!  There was a Bichon/Schitzhu/Miniature Schnauzer for sale
for $350!  It's a mutt!  Not that I have anything against mutts.  I have had several over the years and they
were wonderful dogs.  But if you're going to buy a dog that isn't purebred, get it from the local Humane
Society!  Save a life!  Don't buy that puppy in the window because you make more room for the next puppy
mill puppy!  Do you think for one second that the store won't just replace that puppy with another from the
closest puppy mill?   Shame on those who are responsible for purchasing "wholesale dogs" for re-sale to the
general public.

I digress...   If you would like to know more, please go to my new page.
Help Me
Jan 16 '09 - Well I've rescued another GSD from the local SPCA.  She is a beautiful dog.  She is three years I
could leave this beautiful girl in that environment.  It was the owners last resort and she comes with a heart
breaking letter.  Mike, if you ever read this, know that your best friend is in good hands and she will only
leave here if I feel they can provide an even better environment for her.  Liesel will be well cared for and
loved.  I pray you make liars out of those doctors.

I will update with pictures and more information after the weekend.
February 19 '09 - Well so much for getting the pictures up next weekend!  Since my last report to you I have
been on holidays!  The first in five years!  I've also travelled to two 3 day courses as well so I'm definitely
well travelled!  Now I get to stay home and play!  I am trying to reply to 483 emails and a full inbox for
voicemail.  Please be patient as I will respond in the order that they came in.  When that's all done, I'll
update you on things that are going on here!
February 24 .09 - Well as usual, the dogs have their own schedule.  Both Isis and Indy came into heat
THE DAY we left for holidays.  I arranged the dates of our holidays around the times they should go into
heat to be sure I was here when the did.  But did they listen??  Of course not!  Isis was not to be bred as
she needs some R&R but I had planned on breeding Merlin & Indy.  Luckily it worked out that they were
housed together while I was away so we should be expecting pups at the beginning of April.  If my
caretaker was correct, the due date will be April 1st!  April Fool's Day!  How appropriate!  Just goes to
show you Mother Nature always wins!

This is Liesel, the dog I rescued from the Red Deer SPCA.  She is a wonderful girl, full of joy and loves to
please.  She comes from a different sort of background and she is not a Guardian Angel Shepherd.  I've
been doing lots of training with her and she's coming along well.  She still has a few bad habits and a few
quirks but we are putting those to rest at a quick rate.  For more information regarding Liesel, and to read
her sad story, please see
TRAINED DOGS
Feb. 26 '09 - How would you like to put $500 back in your pocket?  I've been getting many phone
calls and emails lately asking if i am negotiable on my price of puppies.  It is a sign of the times.  To help
find the best homes for my dogs and to give some deserving people a break, I have decided to discount
some of the puppies' prices as long as the qualifications are met.  To find out if you qualify for the
discounted price, email me or call me at my new toll free number 1-888-807-4725.  If you've contacted me
previously and just couldn't afford a Guardian Angel Shepherd at the time, please contact me again and
I'll tell you if you qualify for a discount.
March 5 '09 - So I was working on my website a few days ago and I was researching keywords.  Keywords
are the words you would type into the search engine when looking for something on the internet.  For
example you might type " German Shepherd Breeders Alberta".  One of the suggested terms for me to use
was "police dog".  As I don't raise dogs for police exclusively, I was leery of using that as a search term.
I typed it into a search engine to see what kind of sites came up.  There were lots of sites, but one caught
my attention.  There was a picture of a GSD in full protection mode.  But there was something that caught
my eye even more.  After clicking on the thumbnail, my suspicions were correct!  It was Justice!!  MY
Justice!!  It opened up a video on youtube.  The title was "Kurdish Sheppards" (his spelling not mine).  As
the video played, not only did my Justice appear, but Diesel as well!!  I was absolutely astounded!  What
the heck is this guy doing!  Stealing my pictures and trying to pass off my beautiful boys as another breed!
Needless to say, I spent the next 2 hours hunting this guy down and threatening him with a law suit.
Ever heard of copyright infringement buddy!!  I emailed so many people connected to this guy as well as
youtube, by the time I was finished, the video had been removed.  But OMG!  The nerve!  It only goes to
show how important it is to have a relationship with your breeder.  If you are not buying from me, PLEASE
make sure you do all your homework.  Even if you ARE buying from me, do your homework!
March 9, 2009 - Well I can safely say that Indy is definitely having puppies!  She's starting to get that
tell-tale bulge.  She's doing very well and is eating lots.  She has been switched to Royal Canin Large
Breed Puppy as she can use all the protein, calcium and calories she can get.  I'm busy these days getting
the whelping room ready for the next bundle of furballs.  I'm replacing the floor and a few other things to
make the room even nicer.  I'm buying a whole new set of toys and puzzles for this group so I'm excited.
The more the pups are exposed to, the better the dogs will be as adults.  THE FUN BEGINS!

I have news of Willow.  Sharron's daughter has found a new place to live, and cut back on her working
hours so that she can keep Willow.  She just couldn't part with her.  I'm very happy that Willow will be able
to stay with her family and that Sharron's daughter will be able to keep something that was so precious to
her mother.  Call me if you need me Girl!
March 10 '09 - News about Liesel has come to my attention!  Take a look at the "Trained Dogs" page for an
update!

And I have updated pictures of
Merlin.  Merlin is 17 months old now and is turning into a handsome young
man!  He's losing the "Mamma's Boy" look!
March 12 '09 - New pictures of Liesel and some of my "Older Angels" have been posted here:

GUARDIAN ANGEL ALBUMS!   I haven't had a chance to edit the album yet but I figured better to get some
new pictures up now, than spend weeks editing.  I promise I'll edit soon!  Enjoy!
I am particularly proud of these two!
March 16 '09 -  I have talked to several people (on the phone or in person) who have indicated they would
like to have an Indy/Merlin puppy.   If I haven't received a deposit, you are NOT on the waiting list.  If
she has a small litter, you are already out of luck.  Please don't miss out on your chance to have the
perfect K9 partner because you forgot to send the money.  This is a gentle reminder because the last
time I had a litter, some people missed out and were very upset.  Please don't let that happen to you!
March 16 addendum - I have received a few calls/emails since updating regarding deposits.  Some people
have sent in questionnaires and not received a phone call back from me.  If this is the case, please
email me to make sure that I received your questionnaire answers.  According to my paperwork, I am all
caught up so please let me know if you have been missed some how.  Thanks!
March 17, 2009 - I had a pleasant surprise in the mail yesterday!  Instead of the usual bills etc. there was
a pin sent to me from the Canadian Kennel Club in appreciation of my long service as a member in good
standing.  I have been a member since 1979.

Indy has an appointment at the vet on Monday March 23 to have an x-ray done.  The x-ray is to get an
approximate number of puppies in the litter.  This is not a "counting your chickens before they hatch"
scenario, rather a health issue.  Above all else, the health of my girls come before anything else.  If for
instance I have seen 8 puppies in the litter and she stops after puppy number 5, I know to keep a close
eye on her.  I have heard horror stories of puppies being born 36 hours after the litter was thought to be
finished!  In some cases, that could kill the mother.  The whelping process can be very long and difficult.
At times there will be 3 pups in 20 minutes, which isn't even long enough between them to get them dried
off, weighed and collared!  At other times there can be 3-5 hours between each puppy!  So you never
know what's going to happen.  I'm pretty well housebound during the last week of the pregnancy waiting
for signs of the impending birth.  One thing is for sure though, you can bet she'll go into labour at 11:00PM
after a long hard day!  Strange how they know these things!
March 19 '09 - For those of you who remember Chassis!  That's her making herself comfortable in Dale's
helicopter!  Lucky dog!  What I wouldn't give to go for a ride in a helicopter!  That's one of my dreams to
one day spend a few hours looking at things from a bird's point of view.  From all reports, Chassis is doing
very well with her new pack.  Both two footed and four footed!
March 20 '09 -  HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!  Well, it's finally up and running!  I have a bookstore on my site
now.  It is in partnership with Amazon so you know it is a great place to buy books.  Only dog books of
course!  Not only can you find dog books, but also dog DVDs, dog calendars and dog movies!  Lots of things
to choose from!  At the bottom of the page is a book carousel with my favourites.  Just in case you wanted
to know!  Happy Reading Everyone!
March 23 '09 - Above is a picture of the x-ray that we took of Indy this afternoon.  The x-ray itself didn't
turn out all that well and the picture of the x-ray is even harder to see.  However, we can count on about
10 puppies in the litter!  They are packed in their like sardines!  I have put arrows at the skulls but if
you count spines, there's even more.  And this is a just a portion of the x-ray.  The metal circle is NOT
inside the dog!  It was sitting somewhere inside the x-ray machine.  They were taking things apart when
I left...

So, there you have it.  Approximately 10 puppies.  Let's hope and pray they are all healthy!  Send good
vibes Indy's way!
March 31 '09 - WE'RE HAVING PUPPIES!  4 so far - 3 girls and a boy!  Keep sending the good vibes!

4:45PM - Well I think we're done (hopefully).  9 puppies altogether. 3 males, 6 females, 4 all black, 5 black
& tan.  Mom and kids are doing fine.  The next 48 hours are crucial so don't stop sending those vibes just
yet!  I've been up for over 40 hours so far and still don't have a bed in the schedule.  Too many other
things to do yet!  I'll fill you in on the details tomorrow.
Only part way through and already tired...
A few of the little fur balls.
They weigh in at about a pound
each.
Mom having a well deserved
rest while the pups stay warm
on a special heating pad.
